TIBETAN CUSTOM RUGS

Tibetan wool rugs are the among the plushest in the world. Only cashmere rugs compare in softness and they’re much less durable. Tibetan rug motifs are defined with expert and subtle scissoring so they’re distinctive and arresting. Every knot in these rugs is made up of three ply yarn and we can use both Swiss dyes and vegetal dyes. The combination of plush yarn and premium dyes give the wool the extraordinary depth and variation of color known as abrash. It’s beautiful and makes a one of a kind rug that’s impossible to replicate. We can also dye to match to a specific color in case you want
a rug that harmonizes with your wallpaper, sofa, or cat.

For custom Tibetan rugs, the combinations are really endless. We can incorporate silk and other fibers into designs. We can also weave different textures, create higher or lower pile, use flat knots to create a more casual feel. Like we said, endless. Just let

A custom rug is anything that isn’t in stock. Don’t worry we don’t charge extra for custom rugs – it’s just that you won’t get it in 3 days, we’ll have to make it. And since these are made by hand, they take a little time (it’s worth it).

For custom rugs or rugs that aren’t in stock, we request a 50% deposit with the order.

 

If you want to change a color or size, we can quickly do a computer rendering that will show you what your rug will look like. The lead times are the same as listed above once the design is approved and the rug is ordered.

 

If we are doing a brand new design, just for you, we can work a few ways. Some clients have their design in a format that is ready to get graphed, others need Angela’s help to make their drawing or design ready for weaving. She loves this part so feel free to give us your ideas. If the design work is extensive we do charge a design fee and this will include rounds of changes so we get the design just the way you want it.

 

Angela will work with you to select the weave density, knot type, colors, textures, you know, the fun stuff. Once everyone loves what they are seeing, we can put the rug into production with a 50% deposit.

 

Because our rugs are made by hand, we can make weird shapes, odd sizes, really long runners, and gigantic rugs. There are limitless possibilities – 1000s of colors in wool, different knot styles, varying textures and pile heights. Whatever you need for your space, just call or email us to discuss.
